Lots people recently have asked me: "David, why are you involved in so many activities?" or "What is your purpos

Some are even more to the point: "David, I am sure you are making $$$$$ out of these event".

I have also been given a lot of thought about this question, and here is the answer that I have for you all?

1. volunteering activities are the best way to learn and practice event/project planning and management skill.

Here is a question:

Would you rather make mistake or willing to try new things at your day job?

Here is my answer:

Although it takes the same skill and effort to plan and do things at both work place and non-work place, because there is less impact when making a mistake at non-work context, people are more acceptable to new idea and method of doing things.

2. opportunity to take on a lead role

Here is a question:

does your boss give you the opportunity to lead at work

Here is my answer:

since during bad economy time, boss wants employee to perform with little mistake possible, thus often tasks are given to people with experience. Therefore, chances to play the lead role is less or near impossible. Thus making volunteering or non-work related task an attractive option to try new things.

In conclusion:

Hope the above gives you an ideas about why I am involved as the experience gain from my involvement helped me tremendously at work and as well expanding my personal network.

Just some idea for thought! So how about you?
