icon_priority.png do we all really know what our priorities are?

as we are reaching end of year 2009, I am am re-picking up a book that has been inspiring me since I was a teenager, with hope that it can help me to plan my 2010 year. The "First Things First" by Stephen Covey conveys a simple message is that are we doing things that align to our goals and vision. Are we busy for the right thing.

Yahhhhhhhh...  I got to say that it is not easy to do that. We may often responding to "urgent not important" (e.g. meeting other people's needs, doing fire fighting) and "not important and not urgent" matter (e.g. watching TV 2am for 2 hours every night).

good life goal setting requires identifying dream, goal setting and being discipline to follow through. One powerful story that one of my best friend Edward told me several times to illustrate the power of goal setting. The story goes:

- Edward: "David, do you think students from Havard are smarter than others?".

- David: "I guess so.. at least they have better grades or meeting a higher prerequisite?!"

 - Edward: "Nope, Harvard students appears to be smart, only because they know exactly what they want! It is because they clearly know their vision and quickly identify their goals, and do their best to reach them".

- David: "What's big deal about that... it does not seem to be difficult?!"

- Edward:"Really David, then, David, can you tell me what your 3 year plans and dream in 5 minutes?"

- David: "hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! I guess not".

So, now seating in front of my computer, I am rethinking about the topic of "identify my dream and identify the goals". So.. question for you, when was the last time that you have done this? Do you know your priorities?
