Does the learning attitude or ability of our youth affect Taiwan's future?

What is going on may we ask with the recent news about the "learning attitude" of our university students in Taiwan? Articles belows from Yahoo illustrates the incidents about students "falling sleep" / "listening to MP3" during class and important speech following by comments from minister of our minster of Education quoting that "我們專業能力不差,但在工作敬業態度方面,我們比較自由開放,就會先想到自己的利益。"?

The book "”Seven + One” Habits at Work", by Dr Covey, would be one of the MUST read book for professional like busy project manager who are trying to balance priorities and urgencies in life.

I must say that it is quite a challenge to follow through all the great concepts illustrated in the book! (e.g. dealing with "not urgent, but important" issue first instead of occupying oneself in "urgent, not important" and "not urgent, not important" things (e.g. watch TV all night long until 3 AM).

Today, I found a great PowerPoint slide that illustrates the key concepts of the book! If you enjoy the concepts by Dr. Covey, I would encourage everyone to go pick up this great book! (i.e either audio or hard copy).

Hope that the ideas are compelling to you as it would to me!! Recently, I have been re-picking up this book since I first read 15 years ago!! Enjoy!!

icon_priority.png do we all really know what our priorities are?

as we are reaching end of year 2009, I am am re-picking up a book that has been inspiring me since I was a teenager, with hope that it can help me to plan my 2010 year. The "First Things First" by Stephen Covey conveys a simple message is that are we doing things that align to our goals and vision. Are we busy for the right thing.

Yahhhhhhhh...  I got to say that it is not easy to do that. We may often responding to "urgent not important" (e.g. meeting other people's needs, doing fire fighting) and "not important and not urgent" matter (e.g. watching TV 2am for 2 hours every night).

icon_forumla.png Any formula to quick success?

lots people have been trying to search for the "express formula of success"! I would not lie if I am not one of them.  However, After years of searching, I would imagine that success comes with doing things the "smart way" with a bit of luck, rather than searching for the "quick or back door" to success.

so how can we be "smart" and find "luck" assuming that my definition of the formula of success is correct?

Yesterday just happened that I was at the computer shopping mall near by Taipei Train Station called 3C Rainbow mall, when I was about to leave the mall, I was attracted by a series of  "Apple VS PC" TV ads played in a Apple Mac computer. Without knowing, I was standing there for more than 10 minutes. Last thing I know, there was a crowd behind me. Now thinking back then, if I am still young and not married, I would probably have taken out my credit card and bring home a Apple computer.

sleepless.png 最近很多朋友都睡不著。

Recently, lots of my friends are sleepless at night. Some can not fall in sleep because of pressure from work and life. Some, unfortunately suffers from long term insomnia. Funny thing is that most of my friends are just simply night owl who enjoy the tranquility of the night. (YESS... I mean YOU guys who are still hanging on MSN, PLURK/TWITTER, Facebook!)

tired.png After finishing organizing Canada D'eh 2009 (www.canadiansociety.org) and as well catching up with work after a month, feeling to take a break from everything else.

Yesterday, I was so fortunated to participate in my best buddy Jonhson's marriage proposal to his girl friend. The feeling was great!! At the same time, I feel that through out the past months when I was busy running around organizing these events while balance with work, my wife and family had been supporting me. It is time to take the family out for a quick trip.
